Are those really ugly brown clogs "in" this season for women? HELP!?

I NEEEEED TO KNOW! I am a fashion researcher and while I was researching fall trends for women I never came across the possibility that these ugly brown clogs would be in style! They remind me of something a scary unfashionable enviornmentalist would wear! But now I%26#039;m seeing them more and more and my boss is upset that I didn%26#039;t predict the trend. Are these really in style?

ALot of women are wearing those clogs-not because they are fashionable, but because they are %26quot;in%26quot;. THe difference between the two is that fashionable is something that is truely a good garment. %26quot;in%26quot; is when something is trendy, people wear it b/c other people are wearing it. leather pants, giant bellbottoms, and tie-die shirts with peace signs used to be in during the 80%26#039;s, and little black dresses, dark sunglasses, and pearls were fashionable a while ago, and continue to be. %26quot;in%26quot;/trendy things pass away and looked upon badly, while truely fashionable things stick forever.

Reply:my middle school daughter wore them all last year. I still see them around, along with knock offs at target. they are actually pretty comfortable and look good with blue jeans and hoodies. :) I don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s a current trend, but everyone had them last year.
Reply:I was watching a program that mentioned how unattractive the American shoe apparel has become. I believe the women of America are all about comfort. But I must agree some look like the old gardening shoes that was warn long ago.
Reply:Yeah, unfortunately they seemed to be in style this summer. I kept seeing them in the stores and in catalogs. I seen a handful of people wearing them. They are a bit too %26#039;loud%26#039; for me. I don%26#039;t like them at all.
